The Zendomizer

Also Available: Zendomizer for iOS

The Zendomizer is a program that randomly generates rules for the game of Zendo. If you often have trouble thinking of a rule when it's your turn to master a game of Zendo, you can use this program to quickly create a bunch of rules to keep handy.

By default, rules are generated for the 2017 boxed set release of Zendo. Checking the "Classic Edition" checkbox will generate rules for the original version of Zendo, which used Looney Pyramids.

Note that this program works not by selecting a rule from a pre-defined list, but by actually generating rules from a specially designed grammar. Because of this, it will sometimes create a rule that is grammatically correct, but which makes no sense or is useless for the purpose of the game of Zendo. In these cases, you can usually use the rule as an inspiration, and modify it slightly into something usable. In some cases, however, you may get a rule that is so ridiculous as to be unsalvagable. It's best to just ignore these and hit the "Generate Rule" button again.

Zendomizer for iOS

The Zendomizer is now available for iOS devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. This is not a native iPhone application, but rather a web app specially designed to look like an iPhone app when run on the device's web browser.

To make the Zendomizer as accessible as a native iPhone application, you can install it onto the home screen of your iPhone or iPod Touch. To do so:

  1. View the Zendomizer for iPhone page in Safari on your device.
  2. Tap the Share icon at the bottom center of the screen.
  3. Tap the "Add to Home Screen" button in the panel that pops up.
  4. In the next screen, tap the "Add" button in the upper right corner.

Finally, the Zendomizer for iPhone takes advantage of Safari's support for offline caching of web apps. This means that once you have visited the page or intstalled it onto your home screen, you can run it even when your device isn't connected to the internet!
